Data presented on vaccine response in adolescents

Gardasil, Merck & Co., Inc.'s investigational quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, produced higher anti-HPV immune responses among adolescent males and females compared to young women, according to new study data. Gardasil is an investigational vaccine designed to prevent infection from four common HPV types - 16, 18, 6, and 11 - and related cervical cancer, cervical precancers, and genital warts. These data from a Phase III study of Gardasil were presented for the first time at the annual meeting of the European Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID).
