Benign gynecologic conditions associated with tamoxifen use

A host of benign gynecologic conditions are associated with tamoxifen use by women in the Breast Cancer Prevention Trial of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, researchers report.

E. Chalas and colleagues, Long Island Women's Cancer Center, Smithtown, New York, determined incidence of benign gynecologic conditions occurring among women with an intact uterus at enrollment in the Breast Cancer Prevention Trial of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project. They compared risk for these conditions between women taking tamoxifen and those receiving a placebo.
