Shortage of radiologists and mammography technologists noted in some states

Survey results indicate that breast cancer screening facilities in some states in the U.S. have a shortage of radiologists and certified mammography technologists.

C. Dorsi and colleagues at Emory University's Breast Imaging Center in Atlanta, Georgia, assessed "the current (2001-2002) capacity of community-based mammography facilities to deliver screening and diagnostic services in the United States."

They mailed a survey to 53 eligible mammography facilities in Washington, New Hampshire, and Colorado.
