Study 1: Low estrogen levels were found to differentially affect blood pressure in rats depending on their age.
"Normotensive female rats exhibit age-related decreases in estrous cyclicity and increases in blood pressure. In spontaneously hypertensive rats, estrogens, including dietary phytoestrogens, prevent or attenuate the increased blood pressure associated with estrogen depletion," said J.T. Clark and colleagues, Meharry Medical College, Nashville.
