Smaller HDL-C particles may partly explain high CAD rates in Asian Indian women

Significantly smaller high-density lipoprotein cholesterol particle size may partly explain why Asian Indian women have a higher rate of coronary artery disease than Caucasian women.

N.C. Bhalodkar and colleagues, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, New York, wrote, "Asian Indian women have a higher rate of coronary artery disease (CAD) than do other ethnic groups, despite similar conventional risk factors and lipid profiles."
