Fertility organization comments on U.S. FDA donor eligibility guideline revision

Pamela Madsen, executive director and founder of The American Fertility Association (AFA), released the following statement:

"The American Fertility Association commends the FDA [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] for actively listening to the concerns of the patient and professional communities and modifying its original donor eligibility guideline for infectious disease testing from 7-days to 30-days, for egg and embryo donations. This revised rule acknowledges the unique nature of human reproductive tissue donations, and reassures patients that the FDA is working to serve their best interest."
