Permanent breast seed implant with palladium-103 seeds provides safe dose

A permanent breast seed implant (PBSI) with 103Pd seeds appears to have a safely low dose level.

According to recent research from Canada, a PBSI technique was "developed as a new form of partial adjuvant radiation therapy for early-stage breast cancer."

In their study, B. Keller and coauthors at the Sunnybrook and Women's Health Sciences Centre in Toronto compared "iodine-125 (125I) and palladium-103 (103Pd) isotopes by examining the exposure and effective dose (ED) to a patient's partner."
