Researchers describe findings in breast cancer studies

Breast cancer research advances have been reported from Japan and the United States.

Study 1: The presence of a K-ras gene mutation in endometrial samples of women with breast cancer is associated with the length of time they received tamoxifen treatment and with their menstrual status, study results suggest.

"The putative presence of a mutation in codon 12 of the K-ras gene was investigated in the endometrium of tamoxifen (TAM) and toremifene (TOR)-treated breast cancer patients," wrote T. Hachisuga and colleagues, Fukuoka University, Japan.
