New diagnostic system could become international standard

Pathologists with the University of Kansas School of Medicine have devised a new diagnostic system for breast cancer evaluation that could soon become the international standard. "The key is trying to say how aggressive a cancer is going to be. Then using that information, oncologists can direct a course of action which has the greatest likelihood of success," said Ossama Tawfik, MD, PhD, professor and director of Anatomic and Surgical Pathology at KU.
