Bacterio-therapeutics company receives NIH grant for bacterial vaginosis

Osel, Inc., announced award of a multiple-year grant from the NIAID, U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) towards development of an encapsulated MucoCept Lactobacillus strain for therapeutic prevention of bacterial vaginosis (BV) and HIV infection under support of the Partnerships for Topical Microbicides. The scale of the AIDS crisis now surpasses even the worst-case scenarios of a decade ago. Around the world, approximately 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS.
