TNF-alpha secretion and TLR4 mRNA expression are stimulated from genital mucosal fluids and certain bacteria in women with bacterial vaginosis. "Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is associated with complications of pregnancy and increased susceptibility to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) sexual transmission.
