Outcome of early-onset neonatal sepsis is poor when due to Escherichia coli. Recent research from the United States compared maternal characteristics and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates that are associated with early-onset neonatal sepsis caused by group B Streptococcus and Escherichia coli.
