Role of volume preloading in Caesarean section anesthesia clarified

Effectiveness of volume preloading in anesthesia for Cesarean section is linked to blood flow velocity. "Epidural and spinal anesthesia are the preferred mode of anesthesia for Cesarean section. Volume preloading is recommended to prevent maternal hypotension and a reduction in uteroplacental blood flow, although positive effects of volume preloading on maternal cardiac output and arterial pressure are debatable," investigators in Netherlands report.
