European filing for aerosol inhaler version of AstraZeneca's Pulmicort announced

SkyePharma PLC (SKP) announced that a new pressurized metered-dose aerosol inhaler (pMDI) formulation of the inhaled corticosteroid Pulmicort (budesonide) has been filed by AstraZeneca in its first European market. Pulmicort HFA-pMDI will be available in 2 strengths, 100=B5g and 200=B5g, and will be used for the treatment of asthma in adults and children. The currently available pMDI formulation of Pulmicort has been on the market since 1981 and uses chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as the propellant.
