Decreasing denial may improve future health fears after breast cancer surgery. According to a study from Australia, "Given the widespread worries about future health in women with breast cancer, it is important to understand the predictors of such fear so that possible avenues for intervention can be formulated." T.D. Wade and fellow investigators, Flinders University, carried out a "longitudinal study of 44 women who had undergone breast cancer surgery, looked at demographic variables, cancer and treatment related symptoms, and measured denial coping postsurgery. They then evaluated how these parameters could be used to predict future health fears...
