Phase I clinical trial for osteoporosis complete



August 18th, 2005

Osteologix Inc. announced that it has completed patient enrollment in the first phase I clinical trial of its novel compound NBS-101 to treat osteoporosis.

NBS-101 is being studied as an improved formulation of strontium, which was recently approved in Europe, in the form of strontium ranelate, and launched in several European countries.

"There are currently no U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved osteoporosis drugs that both increase bone formation and decrease bone resorption. Because of its distinct mechanism of action, and because it is in a new class of compounds, we anticipate that NBS-101 could lead to a safer drug with fewer side...
