Studies describe new findings in osteoporosis research

Investigators in the United States and Denmark have published new osteoporosis data. Study 1: Glucocorticoids decrease bone density in postmenopausal women and may be a factor in hip fractures. According to a study from the United States, "Chronic treatment with glucocorticoids (GCs) leads to significant bone loss and increased risk of fractures. In chronically GC-treated patients, hip fracture risk is nearly 50%."
