Covert cancer drugs "fast tracked" to tumors

Cancer Research U.K.-funded scientists have developed a series of powerful stealth anticancer drugs that can sneak into tumors and destroy them, without causing damage to surrounding healthy cells, a new study reveals. The research, carried out by scientists at the Institute of Cancer Research, showed that the drugs substantially delayed tumor growth in experiments on human breast cancer cells and in animal models. This research, published in the August 11, 2005, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, could lead to improved treatment and survival for cancer patients in the future.
