Pennsylvania releases second quarter mammography inspections

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection released reports for 118 mammography facilities that the department inspected during the second quarter of 2005, showing all of those facilities operating within guidelines set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). DEP inspects each of Pennsylvania's approximately 400 certified mammography facilities annually under a contract with FDA. The report also noted that the American College of Radiology (ACR), the professional organization that accredits mammography facilities, recently revoked the accreditation of the Geisinger Clinic Lock Haven.
