Preclinical studies of anti-adhesion thermal gel in gynecologic surgery underway

SyntheMed, Inc. (SYMD) announced it is conducting preclinical studies within the company's anti-adhesion product development program targeted at providing gynecologic surgeons with a product that is easily applied in both less-invasive and open surgical procedures. Post-operative adhesions are bands of fibrous scar tissue that form as a result of the trauma and bleeding that occurs during the surgical procedure. These adhesions can cause serious complications in the more than 3,000,000 gynecologic surgical procedures performed annually worldwide, including infertility, chronic pain and bowel obstructions that can often necessitate additional corrective surgery. ...
