Findings in breast cancer provide new insights

Reports from Switzerland, Germany and the United States highlight recent research on breast cancer. Study 1: Novel "molecular apocrine" breast tumors have been discovered and characterized through gene microarray analysis. "Previous microarray studies on breast cancer identified multiple tumor classes, of which the most prominent, named luminal and basal, differ in expression of the estrogen receptor alpha gene (ER)," scientists in Switzerland explained.
