Study shows docetaxel injection with paclitaxel improves breast cancer survival

The sanofi-aventis Group announced that the Journal of Clinical Oncology has published the results of a phase 3 trial that demonstrate treatment with Taxotere (docetaxel) Injection Concentrate significantly improved overall survival and median time to disease progression compared with paclitaxel in women with advanced breast cancer whose cancer had progressed after previous treatment with an anthracycline-based therapy. The study shows a statistically significant median overall survival of 15.4 months for Taxotere versus 12.7 months for paclitaxel (HR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.15 to 1.73; p=0.03).
