Factors affecting women's participation in cancer support groups identified

Factors affecting women's decisions for participation in breast cancer support groups were identified in a recent investigation. A "prospective study" conducted by investigators in Auckland "assessed the roles of illness beliefs, emotion regulation factors, and sociodemographic characteristics in decisions to participate in a group support program for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
