Trial shows epoetin alfa use to maintain Hb resulted in decreased survival

Recent breast cancer trial results show that epoetin alfa used to maintain Hb targets resulted in decreased survival and quality of life. In a report published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, researchers in Canada conducted a study "To evaluate the effect on survival and quality of life of maintaining hemoglobin (Hb) in the range of 12 to 14 g/dL with epoetin alfa versus placebo in women with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) receiving first-line chemotherapy.
