Investigators in Ukraine, Argentina and the United States have published new breast cancer data. Study 1: Tranforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) pathway impairment causes refractoriness of used tumor cells to the anti-cancer drug doxorubicin. In a recent study published in the journal Experimental Oncology, I. Chorna and associates at the Institute of Cell Biology in Lviv, Ukraine reported, "The effect of X-irradiation on the expression of mRNAs coding for transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) and its receptors was compared in human breast carcinoma MCF-7 cells differing in their sensitivity to doxorubicin."
