Antibody 5C3 recognizes heteropolymer of cytokeratin 9

Scientists have characterized the reactive antigen of monoclonal antibody 5C3 raised against invasive breast tumor tissue in a recent issue of the Journal of Immunological Methods.

According to recent research from Ireland, "Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) provide a powerful tool for the identification of novel tumor associated antigens. In an attempt to identify such an antigen, MAbs were generated by immunization with paraffin wax-embedded formalin-fixed invasive ductal breast tumor tissue from a patient who relapsed following an initial response to adjuvant chemotherapy."
