Studies advance knowledge in breast cancer research

Breast cancer research advances have been reported from the United States, Spain and Australia.

Study 1: Scientists assessed the risk and benefit of radiation therapy (BT) after breast-conserving surgery (BCS) for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).

Researchers in the United States conducted a study "to assess women's preferences regarding the trade-off between the risks and benefits of treatment with BT after BCS for DCIS. Utilities were obtained from 120 patients and 210 nonpatients for eight relevant health states using standard gambles.
