Radiotherapy produces satisfactory results with acceptable toxicity for patients unable to receive chemotherapy in developing countries.

"Carcinoma of the uterine cervix is the most common malignancy affecting women in developing countries like India," scientists in India report. They performed a "retrospective study to analyze the results of radiotherapy alone in the treatment of carcinoma cervix."

"Between January 1996 and December 2001, 1069 patients of carcinoma cervix were treated at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Center with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and intracavitary radiotherapy (871) or EBRT alone...
