Survey finds one-third of Americans belong to gyms or health clubs

Three in 10 Americans belong to gyms or health clubs, according to a new study released by Socratic Technologies.

In addition, about 15% of the population says they plan to join a gym or health club in the next 6 months.

The study, U.S. Consumer Luxury Services Outlook, examined the use of and spending on an assortment of health and fitness services among U.S. households. Other findings of the study include:

-12% use or plan to start using a personal trainer

-24% use or plan to start using a nutritionist or weight control program
