HER-2/neu amplifications status by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) can be accurately and reliably evaluated in archival specimens. Researchers in the United States conducted a study "to assess the usefulness of FISH for HER-2/neu amplification of breast carcinoma in archival fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) specimens.
