New aromatase inhibitors for treatment of metastatic breast cancer examined

Researchers examine new aromatase inhibitors as second-line endocrine therapy in postmenopausal patients with metastatic breast carcinoma in a recent issue of the journal Cancer. According to a study from Italy, "New aromatase inhibitors (AI) (second-generation: formestane and fadrozole; third-generation: letrozole, anastrozole, vorozole, and exemestane) have been tested in several controlled clinical trials after tamoxifen failure in metastatic breast carcinoma (MBC).
