Transvaginal magnetic resonance imaging used in staging of cervical carcinoma

Transvaginal contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging could be used in the early staging of cervical carcinoma. "The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of transvaginal contrast for local staging of cervical carcinoma. Fifty patients diagnosed with cervical carcinoma prospectively underwent MR imaging before and after vaginal opacification (VO) with a mixture of 25 ml saline and 25 ml barium," investigators in Turkey reported.
