Combined clinical and research efforts would enhance analysis for the under-recognized cancer complication of secondary lymphedema. "The psychological and social sequelae of secondary lymphedema (SLE) have been an under-recognized and little-researched complication of treatment for breast carcinoma," according to scientists writing in the journal Cancer.
