The emotional patterns of partners and women with breast cancer were observed to be interdependent. Researchers in the United States report "We explored interdependence on quality-of-life factors for women with breast cancer and their partners. Multiple theoretical perspectives predict that the emotional distress experienced by women with breast cancer would be shared by their partners.
