New data illuminates research in breast cancer

Data on breast cancer are outlined in reports from the United Kingdom, United States and Australia.

Study 1: A recently published study discourages continued axillary sampling after sentinel lymph node biopsy in staging breast cancer.

Scientists writing in the European Journal of Surgery and Oncology reported, "Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has become increasingly accepted as a diagnostic method to stage the axilla in breast cancer, selecting women with a positive sentinel node for completion axillary clearance.
