Hot flashes have been linked to anxiety and depression in peri- and post- menopausal women. Scientists in Taiwan conducted a study "to explore the relationship between anxiety, depression, vasomotor symptoms, and menopausal status among middle-aged women." The researchers described it as "a population-based study involving a rural Taiwanese population."
