Variation in Val-9Ala polymorphism was not shown to increase breast cancer risk

The presence of a variation in the Val-9Ala polymorphism was not shown to increase breast cancer risk.

"Excessive oxidative stress may induce and promote breast carcinogenesis," according to a recent article published in Cancer Causes & Control. "Manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) is critical to management of oxidative stress by catalyzing the formation of hydrogen peroxide from two superoxide anions."
