Letrozole as post-operative breast cancer therapy reduces recurrence, large study shows

Post menopausal women with early invasive breast cancer may now benefit from Femara (letrozole) immediately after surgery. Femara was granted early approval of an adjuvant (post-surgery) license by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The threat of cancer returning is a major concern for many women following surgery and Femara has been shown to significantly reduce recurrence (Waldie E, et al. Clinical study report CFEM345D 019 (BIG 1-98): 2005. Novartis Pharma AG, Basel, Switzerland).
