Findings in breast cancer provide new insights

Reports from Austria, the United States and Australia highlight recent research on breast cancer.

Study 1: Common oncoproteins are not linked to angiogenic cytokine in ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).

According to a study from Austria, "comedo carcinoma is generally regarded as the subtype of DCIS most likely to progress to invasive carcinoma. Increased angiogenesis could be associated with an enhanced risk of progression and might therefore be a marker of poor prognosis, as can be demonstrated for invasive breast tumors."
