Intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy shows promise for treatment

Intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy is a promising treatment modality for breast cancer patients. "Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is a technique in which a high, single-fraction radiation dose is delivered directly to the tumor bed during a surgical intervention, after the removal of a neoplastic mass," oncologists in Italy explained.
