Tumor markers and (18)fluoro-desoxyglucose [(18)FDG-PET] could be used to detect tumor recurrences during follow-up of cancer patients. According to recent research from France, "One of the major indications of tumor markers it the detection of occult disease. Less than 20% of tumor markers elevations are associated with clinical or radiological findings."
