Tamoxifen biotransformation is associated with higher disease relapse risk and hot flashes. Scientists writing in the Journal of Clinical Oncology wrote, "Polymorphisms in tamoxifen metabolizing genes affect the plasma concentration of tamoxifen metabolites, but their effect on clinical outcome is unknown.
