Coffee consumption may have a protective effect on breast cancer risk in premenopausal, but not postmenopausal, women. "Caffeine has been suggested as a possible risk factor for breast cancer, potentially through its effect of facilitating the development of benign breast disease. However, coffee and tea also contain polyphenols, which exhibit anticarcinogenic properties," scientists in the United States reported. J.A.
