Researchers' findings advance breast cancer research

Investigators in Italy and the United States have published new breast cancer data. Study 1: Intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy is a promising treatment modality for breast cancer patients. "Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is a technique in which a high, single-fraction radiation dose is delivered directly to the tumor bed during a surgical intervention, after the removal of a neoplastic mass," oncologists in Italy explained.
