Studies describe new findings in breast cancer research

Investigators in the United States have published new breast cancer data. Study 1: Optimizing local therapy was deemed crucial for improving the outcome of patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). "We reviewed our institution's experience treating DCIS of the breast to determine risk factors for ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence (IBTR) and cause-specific survival (CSS) after breast-conserving therapy (BCT) or mastectomy," scientists writing in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics reported.
