Studies add new findings to breast cancer body of knowledge

New findings from Brazil, Japan and Italy describe advances in breast cancer. Study 1: Tc-99m dextran 500 was deemed better than Tc-99m phytate in detecting breast cancer. "Breast cancer surgery has evolved towards minimizing morbidity, maximizing cure rates and stratifying treatments according to disease stage. Sentinel lymph node biopsy is becoming standard practice in most centers. However, no standard radiopharmaceutical exists," investigators in Brazil reported.
