Heart disease in women often undiagnosed because of male-oriented diagnostics

Although ischemic heart disease (IHD) - the reduction of blood flow that can lead to heart attacks - is often considered a "man's disease," it actually takes the lives of more women in the U.S. than men each year. Now, research is showing that heart disease in women often goes undiagnosed because diagnostic techniques are based on men's disease. New research finds that the disease in women is actually very different from that typically found in men, with a variety of complex underlying factors.
