Research in breast cancer therapy provides new insights

Reports from Switzerland, the United States and Austria highlight recent research on breast cancer therapy. Study 1: The risk of recurrent disease is reduced in women treated with letrozole for early breast cancer. Investigators in Switzerland report, "The aromatase inhibitor letrozole is a more effective treatment for metastatic breast cancer and more effective in the neoadjuvant setting than tamoxifen. We compared letrozole with tamoxifen as adjuvant treatment for steroid-hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women." B.
