Cervical Cancer Screening



Studies describe new findings in cervical cancer screening research

Investigators in the United Kingdom, France and Australia have published new cervical cancer screening data.

Study 1: Immediate colposcopy for women with mild dyskaryosis would result in significant overtreatment of these patients.

An article published in the journal Cytopathology cited, "Recent national guidelines (NHSCSP Document 20) recommend colposcopy referral after one mildly dyskaryotic smear, compared with the current practice of cytological surveillance and referral if the abnormality persists.
