HBV post-partum e antigen clearance in carrier mothers correlates with viral characteristics

According to recently published research from Taiwan, hepatitis B virus (HBV) post-partum e antigen (HbeAg) clearance in hepatitis B carrier mothers correlates with viral characteristics.

"The purpose of the present paper was to correlate HBV genotype, e antigen titer, HBV-DNA level and precore/basal core promoter mutations with post-partum e antigen clearance in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive carrier mothers," wrote H.H. Lin and colleagues, National Taiwan University Hospital.
